On the Q.T. follows Jari, (Sam Ball), a struggling young musician, who escapes a blue-collar existence in the upper Michigan peninsula to pursue his passion of studying the violin in New York City. When the big city fails to satisfy his musical frustrations, he must support himself like many other struggling musicians, by playing his violin in the netherworlds of the New York City Subway Platforms. His talent is recognized in the underground by Leo, (Powerfully played by James Earl Jones), an insightful, experienced musician who takes Jari on as his protÈgÈ. Leo is more than a music teacher, he strives to show Jari not only how to play better music, but also to truly understand what music means to the soul! Jari also meets a famous singer-song writer, Carla Cooper, (played by the stunning Trudie Styler), who gives him a taste of the "music business". At a crossroads, Jari is torn between two worlds. He must choose between the one below ground of realizing his full potential as a violinist, or the easier world above ground as a studio musician. "On The Q.T." delivers a realistic, heart-warming journey of a young musician's struggles, while exploring the cold underground existence of New York's Subway musicians.
