Previous to forming MRG, Marc Greenberg served as Co-Founder of Cinema Products Video (CPV), an entertainment company specializing in the production, distribution and sales of film and television programming. Recognizing the changes taking place in the video industry, CPV was formed in order to produce and distribute films that appeal not only to the video industry but to the newly burgeoning Pay Cable and Pay-Per-View business.
While at CPV, Mr. Greenberg secured relationships with highly esteemed companies including HBO, Showtime and USA Network in addition to forming joint ventures and working in various production capacities with such esteemed companies as Warner Bros., Kushner Locke, Columbia Tri-Star, Polygram and Orion. Moreover, in 1991, CPV launched an international sales arm and formed production subsidiary Magic Hour Pictures, which was responsible for the independent production of 30 cable movies, 20 hour-long specials and 70 individual episodes of various series.
By 1994, CPV had accumulated a vast product library and substantial production slate. At this time, CPV was bought out by a pay-per-view company presently traded on NASDAQ. Greenberg signed a three-year employment agreement to run CPV as a wholly owned subsidiary with 38 employees and annual sales of $5 million. At the expiration of the employment agreement, Magic Hour Pictures was retained by Greenberg. The executive went on to form MRG Entertainment, with the launch of Mainline Releasing and Lightning Entertainment to come shortly thereafter.
